BP said yesterday it had agreed a deal with Emerson Process Management for support on the Clair Ridge project.
The operator said Emerson, a process-automation specialist, would provide control and safety systems for two new platforms, scheduled to be installed in 2015, under the £15million contract.
Emerson’s involvement means the west-of-Shetland project now directly employs more than 1,000 people in the UK.
Production is expected to begin in 2016.
