Peterhead-based Maritime Developments’ new commercial director said yesterday he saw tremendous scope for the firm to expand at home and abroad.
Mike Gaskin has joined the company, which designs and produces engineering equipment for the energy industry, from engineering and service business Aquatic.
Mr Gaskin said Maritime had received strong interest in its products in recent months. He added: “There is tremendous scope for Maritime Developments to grow further both in the UK and internationally. The company has developed excellent partnerships with larger businesses, and will continue to do this.
“We are also developing innovative products to enhance operations and safety, in particular in the deployment and retrieval of subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines for the oil and gas sector and cables for the renewables sector. The level of interest shown in our design, engineering capability and services has been extremely encouraging as we look to move forward.”
Maritime, which is focused on back-deck equipment on vessels serving the offshore industry, now employs 19 people.
The firm said recently turnover had more than doubled during the year to the end of March 2011 to £4.7million, from £2.3million previously.
