Two new deals for Asco are expected to create up to 14 jobs at the Aberdeen-based oil and gas logistics firm next year.
Asco said yesterday it had signed an agreement with Tromso Port Authority in Norway to operate a new purpose-built supply base and harbour area.
The company has also signed a supply base partnership deal with Maersk Oil to support its drilling campaigns in Norway over the next three years.
Although it did not put a value on the work, taken together the deals are worth millions of pounds to the north-east firm.
An Asco spokeswoman said they would mean between 10 and 14 new full-time jobs next year.
Due to be operational from the middle of next year, the new Tromso base – part of a £30million development by port bosses – will be the focal point for servicing rigs in the North Norwegian Sea. Work to construct the supply base on the site, just south of Hammerfest, has already started.
Runar Hatlevedt, Asco’s managing director for northern Europe, said: “Tromso is a key logistics hub in northern Norway, strategically situated on the edge of the Arctic.
“This is a very important area of development for us and will enable us to support key drilling operations in the Northern part of the Norwegian Sea”.
Meanwhile, Asco Norway has signed a three-year partnership deal to support Maersk Oil’s drilling campaigns in Norway. The first oil rig to be supported under this deal will be the Transocean Barents in the Norwegian Sea.
Asco employs more than 1,600 people worldwide.
