International learning and skills provider, Aberdeen company Atlas, has teamed up with one of the world’s top business schools as its first so-called “global partner” in the UK.
That partner is the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona, currently ranked number one for international business.
This agreement lifts oil industry specialist Atlas to a new level in continuing professional development; moreover, Thunderbird itself has significant experience of delivery to the energy sector.
John Rowley, CEO of Atlas, said the agreement would deliver mutual benefit and that Thunderbird programmes were being used by most of the major oil and gas and service companies in the US.
“With alumni like Bob Dudley, CEO of BP, and David Seaton, the CEO of Fluor, Thunderbird programmes are an exciting new addition to our portfolio and something we are confident that our clients will be very interested in,” Rowley added.
The Atlas/Thunderbird partnership covers the entire EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa).
The Aberdeen firm already claims a strong regional presence in Europe, the Middle East, Far East and Australia. Indeed this global reach was a key attraction to the US school, in particular its web-based professional development division, Thunderbird Online.
The first course released in the partnership is the online Certificate in Global Oil and Gas Management. This is designed to offer professionals from all levels of the oil and gas industry a greater understanding of the fundamentals in the global oil and gas business.
It also supports those who are looking to make a transition from technical roles or support roles into managerial positions, where a broader knowledge of the business is essential for their career advancement.
Thunderbird has more than 60 years of experience in developing leaders. It particularly built its reputation honing top rankers in the US military machine.
And Thunderbird Executive Education has educated more than 10,500 global professionals in the oil and gas industry over 20 years.
