Subsea installation firm Bibby Offshore is moving to new headquarters in the north-east in response to its growing workforce.
Bibby will move out of Aberdeen next spring to a site at Westhill which is being built to accommodate double its current onshore staff.
The business, which has more than 200 people onshore and 450 offshore, has taken on 120 recruits in 12 months and plans to grow its workforce further.
It said its move from Waterloo Quay to the new base at Prospect Park, which can accommodate 400 people, represented a multimillion-pound investment.
Chief executive Howard Woodcock said the company’s fleet was also growing and now stood at five vessels.
He added: “Bibby Offshore has evolved considerably since we first opened in Aberdeen in 2003 with offices at the Science and Technology Park.
“We have moved twice since then and looked for accommodation with the capacity for us to keep growing.”
Mr Woodcock said that North Sea activity was also on the rise. He added: “We have invested in vessels, recruitment and the office premises because we see the market continuing to do well and our ships and assets being kept very busy.”
Bibby, which has annual turnover of £150million, said it had taken a 15-year lease on its new HQ, which is being built by Knight Property Group.
Knight director Howard Crawshaw said: “We are delighted to have been able to accommodate Bibby Offshore at Prospect Park.
“We were aware they had been on the lookout for larger premises for some time now and they have secured this development on a pre-let basis, with planning now granted and work commenced on site.
“It suits their requirements perfectly and will accommodate the company’s ever-expanding staff base and service offering.”
Aberdeen mechanical engineering specialist EnerMech is to open its first office in India. The Mumbai office will be followed with the opening of a workshop and storage base in Kakindada in Andrah Pradesh region by the year-end.
The move into India ties into an expansion plan for the Asia-Pacific region.
EnerMech is already represented in Singapore, Australia and China.
Managing director Doug Duguid said: “India’s oil and gas industry is of major importance to us as we continue to internationalise the business. We are making a significant capital investment in infrastructure, equipment and in placing expert personnel in-country, which fits our long-term strategy of extending our footprint in India.”
