Norwich-based oil and gas engineering firm Aquaterra Energy has a new office in Aberdeen.
The firm, which opened a rented office in Berry Street last summer, has moved into a building it has bought in Albyn Terrace. Leading the new office is general manager Eric Doyle.
Aquaterra, which also has an office in Cambridge, said the Aberdeen team would include analysts and structural engineers and would focus initially on providing riser and conductor analysis.
Mr Doyle said: “The firm was founded in 2005 and already has lots of clients in Aberdeen – some years more than 60% of clients.
“We want to build and replicate what we have in Norwich in Aberdeen but focus first on analysis – specifically riser and conductor analysis.”
The firm currently has three staff based in the Granite City. Mr Doyle said he hoped that would rise to seven or eight by about May next year, rising again to 12 in the following year.
Overall the firm has about 110 staff, based in Norwich and Cambridge, with a turnover of about £30million.
It was started in 2005 by Mark Boyd, who previously founded part of what is now services group Acteon.
Managing director Patrick Phelan said: “Aberdeen is a strategic market for the company and our commitment to building our presence here can now truly be realised as we establish a highly capable, dedicated team and experienced, energetic leadership in place.”
