Oilfield service group Aker Solutions has won an £18million deal that will guarantee the future of 80 north-east jobs.
Aker said its maintenance, modifications and operations (MMO) business will support Perenco’s North Sea operations under the contract.
The Norwegian group said the three-year contract extension would be overseen by its Aberdeen base, securing 80 operations, maintenance and technical support staff based in the north-east.
The contract, which could be extended for a further two years, is for work on Perenco’s onshore and offshore assets in the southern North Sea.
It comes after Aker’s MMO division announced plans to invest £4million in its UK operations over the next 18 months.
Aker said last month the investment would cover IT upgrades and the formation of two groups within the firm focused on the asset integrity and front-end engineering markets.
Mike Forbes, UK managing director of Aker Solutions’ MMO business, said: “We are very pleased that Perenco UK, an important and expanding player in the North Sea, has renewed its trust in our services.”
