Equinor has handed out contracts worth around £68million to an offshore supply vessel firm for operations in Norway.
Havila Shipping has been awarded the three-year deals for the Havila Charisma and Havila Foresight ships.
They form part of a fleet of 30 supply vessels supporting Equinor installations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
The Equinor contracts includes modifications to the Havila Charisma to be modified to support seismic study and reservoir monitoring, while also carrying out its usual supply vessel work.
The ship will sail out of Floro when not on seismic assignments, while Havila Foresight’s normal base is at Mongstad – this new deal taking its total service time with Equinor to 15 years.
Peggy Krantz-Underland, Equinor’s chief procurement officer, said: “We have received safe and efficient deliveries from Havila Shipping for several years and look forward to continuing our cooperation with the shipping company.
“Long-term contracts bring predictability to both Equinor and our suppliers, and form the basis of continuous improvement.”
Both vessels are among thre most fuel-efficient in the operator’s fleet of supply ships, having been fitted with a battery and adapted for shore power reducing CO2 emissions.
All 20 vessels on longer-term contracts have, or will have, similar arrangements in 2021.
Morten Sundt, who is leading Equinor’s supply vessel activities on the NCS, added: “By modifying Havila Charisma to provide seismic services in addition to supply services, we are utilizing our scale advantage to achieve higher efficiency and flexibility in our operations.”
Equinor said a total of around 900 people work on supply vessels in service of the company.
