North-east energy-production technology service company Proserv said yesterday it had landed two contracts worth more than £6million in total.
The deals with two oil and gas operators will see the Westhill-based firm provide subsea control systems. Proserv employs more than 1,100 people worldwide, including 300-plus in Aberdeenshire.
One of the deals is for Maersk Oil UK, which is developing a subsea tieback to the Clyde platform in the central North Sea. The other involves Proserv working on a development in the southern North Sea for an unnamed company.
Proserv chief executive David Lamont said: “Securing these contract awards demonstrates Proserv’s strong market-leading position and our track record for delivering value-added products and services on time and within budget as well as our continued investment in technologies and development of ingeniously simple solutions for the next generation.”
At the end of April, Proserv said it was taking over the subsea-control business of Weatherford International. There was no cash element to the deal, which also involved Weatherford taking a minority stake in Proserv.
The Weatherford unit employed more than 300 people in the UK, Norway, North America, Middle East and Far East.
