Tullow Oil has made another significant discovery in its Deepwater Tano block offshore Ghana with its Wawa-1 exploration well drilled 10km (6miles) north of the Enyenra-3A well.
The company said the well intersected oil and gas-condensate in a Turonian turbidite channel system, encountering 20m of gas-condensate pay and 13m of oil pay. Samples show the oil to be good quality . . . between 38 and 44 degrees API.
The well was testing the previously undrilled, up-dip portion of the license area, and its pressure data shows that it is a separate accumulation from the Tweneboa, Enyenra, and Ntomme (TEN) fields.
The Wawa-1 well has been suspended for possible future use.
