Oil service group Technip said yesterday it had landed its second big UK deal in a week.
The latest contract is with ConocoPhillips (UK) and could be worth up to £79million.
The five-year inspection, repair and maintenance (IRM) frame agreement covers various assets of ConocoPhillips in the central North Sea and east Irish Sea and will involve diver repair and maintenance work.
Technip’s operating centre at Westhill, near Aberdeen, will execute the contract, which will run from 2012-16, with two two-year options to extend it.
Vessels from Technip’s fleet, including the Orelia, Skandi Achiever and Wellservicer, will be used.
Technip’s life-of-field services business stream manager Steve Beddows said: “Technip has vast experience in the IRM market, having held long-standing agreements with a number of major operators.
“We are delighted to have our ability to deliver a full package of services recognised.
“Technip is a major player on the UK continental shelf and we have recently reorganised our UK business to meet the evolving and growing demands of the market.
“Part of this reorganisation includes the development of a life-of-field services business stream at Westhill, and this dedicated team will execute this agreement.”
Last week, Ithaca Energy said it had awarded a £146million contract to Technip.
The engineering, procurement, installation and construction deal covers subsea work on the Greater Stella Area (GSA) in the central North Sea. The £630million project will see the Stella and Harrier fields in the central North Sea developed through a floating production facility, the FPF-1.
GSA could produce about 30,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
Technip’s operating centre at Westhill will also execute this contract.
Genesis, Technip’s consultancy, subsea and offshore engineering company, is to complete the detailed design workscope and flexible flowlines will be produced at the group’s flexible-pipe plant at Le Trait, in France.
Technip’s Evanton Spoolbase, north of Inverness, is to fabricate the linepipe and Duco, the group’s umbilical manufacturer in Newcastle, will provide the umbilicals.
Technip employs more than 900 people in Britain; most of them at Westhill.
