International energy service giant Petrofac said yesterday one of its north-east based subsidiaries was moving into new premises to accommodate its growing workforce.
Scotvalve Services, part of Petrofac’s offshore projects and operations division, is investing more than £10million in the site at Kintore, which is nearly four times the size of its base at Dyce, Aberdeen.
The oil service business said its move into new headquarters on the 4.4-acre site would create 15 jobs on top of its 55-strong workforce.
Construction is expected to take 11 months, with operations moving to the new facility next summer.
Scotvalve said the move would also allow it to invest in new tooling machinery which it needs to meet rising demand from operators and other customers.
The firm said it would focus mainly on serving North Sea clients, but added the move to Kintore would give it the capacity to offer its services internationally.
Roy Burnett, director of oilfield services at Scotvalve, said: “We’re delighted to announce the plans for our new facility.
“As always, our focus remains on working to the highest standard, ensuring safety and integrity of equipment and maximising operational uptime for our customers.”
Petrofac bought Scotvalve from its management for an initial £3million in 2010, with a further figure of up to £2million payable until next year subject to agreed performance targets. Bill Dunnett, managing director of Petrofac offshore projects and operations, said: “This development further demonstrates our continued commitment to the area, where we recognise the skills, experience and infrastructure we need to maintain growth and continually develop our business.
“We value these attributes highly and constantly strive to recruit and invest locally.”
Petrofac employs about 4,000 people in the north-east.
