Emerson Process Management said yesterday it had donated automation technology worth more than £650,000 to the Aset international oil and gas training academy in Aberdeen.
The US technology firm said: “Emerson’s equipment is installed on a unique working onshore platform, which will provide trainee technicians with hands-on experience, while in a safe environment.”
Donald Angus, Emerson’s newly appointed Aberdeen-based European sales director for upstream oil and gas, said: “We appreciate the importance of properly equipping people for the future and the value facilities like Aset can provide.”
The Aset oil and gas training academy is housed in Aberdeen College’s Altens Centre. Aset chief executive Atholl Menzies said: “It is vital that our facilities replicate industry standards to allow us to continue to underpin the training needs of the North Sea industry, and fulfil global demand for specialist training.”
