Gulf Keystone has submitted a declaration of commercial discovery and intends to submit a development plan within six months to the Kurdish authorities in what is currently northern Iran.
Shaikan is reported to contain gross oil-in-place reserves of 8-13.4billion and currently ranks as the largest oil discovery anywhere of recent times.
