Maersk Drilling has secured charters for two of its super-jack-ups for drilling offshore Norway later this year.
Maersk Gallant has been contracted by Talisman Energy to drill an exploration well on its Polar Bear prospect on Norwegian Sea block 16/10 during Q4. The well is to be drilled southeast of the Varg field.
Maersk Giant, has been hired by Dong to drill an exploration well in the Southern North Sea on block 3/7 – Trym South prospect, which lies on the maritime boundary between Norway and Denmark.
Well, 3/7-8 will be drilled between Norway’s Trym field and Denmark’s Lulita field.
Transocean has also secured new business – contracts extending the charter periods for four of its rigs and a new contract for drilling services.
The company said that its semisubmersible drilling rig Sedco 714 has received a year’s extension to its charter by Total at a new dayrate of $395,000. Compare this with $253,000 a day previously. Its new contract is expected to begin in December with the expiration of the current agreement.
The John Shaw semi-submersible has also received a year’s extension to its UK North Sea contract with Taqa Britani at a new dayrate of $360,000 rather than the prior $318,000 dayrate.
GSF Key Manhattan has been granted a two-year extension to its contract offshore Italy at a new dayrate of $134,000, which is down on the prior $137,000.
GSF Galaxy II has picked up a three-well contract extension to its UK North Sea contract with Centrica at a new dayrate of $210,000 for the first well and $220,000 for the other two.
This compares with $190,000 previously.
Transocean said too that its Sedneth 701 semi- has been awarded a new one-year contract offshore Nigeria at $311,000 a day, and that it is selling its drillship Discoverer 534, which has been stacked.
