Phuel Oil Tools said yesterday it had invested more than £300,000 in a facility in the US to meet growing international demand.
The Aberdeen firm, which provides products for the oil industry, has opened a base in Broussard, Louisiana. Its new warehouse and office is being stocked from Aberdeen, but Phuel said it wanted it to ultimately become a standalone operation.
The move comes less than a year after Phuel received £1million from the Scottish Loan Fund, set up to help growing firms to boost exports.
Managing director Colin McCracken said the company was now planning a relocation in Aberdeen. He added: “The expansion of Phuel Oil Tools internationally is a real achievement and we are delighted to be taking this step less than a year after receiving our loan.
“At home, we are also developing our offering in Aberdeen, with a move to new, larger premises in the next couple of months.”
