Oil and gas engineering company Aquaterra Energy has revealed plans to double revenue from its business in the north-east.
The firm officially opened its office in the Granite City yesterday after £1.5million of investment, marking the occasion with an event attended by Aberdonian Olympic swimmer David Carry.
Norwich-based Aquaterra said it already had £8million of annual sales from the north-east but aimed to increase this to about £16million now it had a presence in the region.
Managing director Patrick Phelan said the new office in Albyn Terrace could accommodate up to 30 people, adding that he wanted to reach that number within two years.
Mr Phelan said: “Aberdeen is a strategic market for the company and our commitment to building our presence here can now be realised,” adding that Aquaterra planned to spend about £4million on new equipment from Aberdeen suppliers.
He said: “This equipment forms part of the systems that we provide to overseas customers as well as for North Sea projects.”
Aquaterra, which also has an office in Cambridge, said the Aberdeen operation would be led by general manager Eric Doyle.
