Aberdeen’s Sigma Offshore has appointed a new chief operating officer as it looks to expand with the launch of a new London office.
Bob Coates, who has more than 25 years’ experience in the marine and offshore industries, was a director with London Marine Consultants.
Sigma is an international floating production vessel mooring and marine engineering services company.
Mr Coates’s new remit includes responsibility for developing Sigma’s presence in London, where the company aims to recruit a core team of around 20 engineers and designers, naval architects and project support staff within a year. Alistair Dornan, president and chief executive at Sigma, said: “Bob’s appointment signals a step-change in focus for Sigma, moving from technology trial and development to hard application in the field. He brings a wealth of experience to Sigma Offshore in the delivery of both external and internal turret mooring systems.”
o Aberdeen energy services company Senergy is looking to increase its Edinburgh workforce with the opening of a new office.
The firm, which provides project and asset development services, has relocated its existing team of 16 staff based in Scotland’s capital to West Port, close to the Grassmarket.
