A UK-listed energy exploration firm focused on operations offshore India has relocated its base to Aberdeen.
Hardy Oil and Gas, led by former KCA Deutag director Ian Mackenzie, has taken a lease for offices in North Silver Street and moved in this week.
The firm, which has a staff of three plus non-executive directors including former Abbot Group founder Alasdair Locke, was previously based in London.
Hardy has four blocks offshore India in various stages of exploration, appraisal and production and is operator of two.
Mr Mackenzie, who lives in Aberdeenshire and took over as chief executive in May, said the move would help the firm to conserve cash and get closer to the technical offshore expertise needed for its operations.
Hardy will keep one member of staff in London to run its corporate affairs.
Subsea construction firm Ocean Installer has picked up a multimillion-pound contract to carry out offshore survey work for Premier Oil on its Solan development, west of Shetland in water depth of about 449ft.
The work – believed to be worth about £2million – is due to carry on through next month, with Ocean Installer using the support vessel Normand Clipper.
