Oilfield service business Archer has signed a second major North Sea deal in the space of two days.
The firm said on Wednesday it wanted to create at least 80 jobs in Aberdeen after agreeing a five-year contract extension with Marathon Oil.
Yesterday, it revealed it would add at least a further 80 positions to its Granite City-based operations after winning a three-year extension with Apache.
Archer will continue to provide platform and drilling maintenance services to six Apache installations in the North Sea plus two others – Beryl Alpha and Bravo – which the operator acquired from ExxonMobil.
Kjetil Bjornson, North Sea general manager for Archer, said the addition of the two Beryl platforms strengthened the service company’s relationship with Apache in the UK.
Archer said it now held contracts for 18 platforms in the UK offshore sector, with fixed contracts until 2017.
The company’s offices at Dyce, in Aberdeen, are the base for around 200 onshore and 530 offshore workers.
North-east energy service company SeaEnergy has appointed consultant Mike Comerford as operations director.
