Aberdeen helifuel services firm Harran is eyeing expansion after making a move into new premises in Altens.
The firm, founded in 1995 by managing director Ralph Hume and his wife Maggie, has taken a lease on Harran Base, in Altens.
The move, from a shared site in Tullos, will give the firm room to expand its helifuel services and its chemical tank rental fleet, which has already grown from 20 in 2002 to just under 400.
Harran says it currently handles more than 50% of the helifuel in the UK sector of the North Sea, as well as inspecting and servicing refuelling and helideck facilities on 45% of the fixed platforms and mobile rigs in the same area from Aberdeen and a base in Great Yarmouth.
It also has contracts in Europe, North America, Africa and the Far East and this year picked up a call-out contract for four onshore helifuel bowsers at Oban, Aberdeen, Dundee and Inverness.
Its turnover, currently of more than £2.5million, is due to grow this year as more contracts are won.
Mr Hume said: “We believe this is the beginning of a new phase in Harran’s development as the leading service company within our market-sector.
“With the resources now at our disposal we can grow our staff, tank fleet, services and product line to take advantage of the opportunities presented by our growing, and worldwide, customer base.”
The new facilities include a 2,760sq m yard to expand helifuel and general chemical tote tank fleets, a new 1,250sq m workshop and a new 260sq m office complex.
Next year and into 2013/14 the firm says it plans to spend £1million on additional tanks.
Harran has 22 staff looking after 14 major clients and servicing more than 60 installations world-wide.
