Denmark’s Dong Energy said today operations on a two-well deepwater drilling campaign west of Shetland were on schedule.
The energy firm’s exploration and production arm, Dong E&P UK, is drilling on the Glenrothes and Cragganmore prospects with the North Atlantic Drilling’s West Navigator drill ship.
Operations started in late September on Glenrothes, a gas prospect 62 miles from Shetland, and have now moved on to the Cragganmore well.
Dong aims to operate both concurrently using the West Navigator’s dual rig capacity, which means it can start on one and work on the other. Dong has the vessel on contract for about 90 days.
The firm operates the licence and has a 40% stake. The other partners are Dana Petroleum and GDF Suez Exploration and Production UK, which each have 30%.
