The offshore division of Ashtead Technology is planning to add nine people to its north-east workforce in the next few months after moving to new global headquarters at Westhill, near Aberdeen.
The rented complex represents a £750,000 investment by the subsea operation and has doubled its available space compared with the previous site at Dyce.
The site takes in offices, warehouse, maintenance workshops and a specialised calibration lab.
The offshore division has already added eight staff this year and now employs 36. In addition to Westhill, it has bases in Houston and Singapore plus agents in Norway and Australia.
Areas in which the business is involved include rental equipment, repair and maintenance plus engineered solutions.
New chief executive Allan Pirie, the former chief financial officer, has ambitious plans to grow and develop the operation.
Mr Pirie said: “The move to our new Westhill facility is a key achievement in ambitious global plans for the future, which include a focus on equipment innovation, service excellence and personnel.
“Our development opportunities for employees are expanding rapidly and we look forward to further developing our service offering. This is an exciting time of growth in the offshore subsea market for us and we continue to invest in facilities, personnel and the latest technology equipment to support our expanding customer requirements.”
Ashtead Technology, which also has an instrument division, was founded in Aberdeen in 1985 and has annual turnover of £31million. It was acquired by Phoenix Equity Partners in 2008 through a management buyout from Ashtead Group.
