Sir Ian Wood will be presented with a special lifetime achievement award at Oil and Gas UK’s (OGUK) annual accolades in Aberdeen next month.
The presentation will be made in recognition of the leading role he has played in the energy industry over many years.
Sir Ian steps down as Wood Group chairman at the end of this month after nearly 50 years in the business he transformed from a fishing firm into a global energy service giant.
OGUK chief executive Malcolm Webb said: “Sir Ian Wood is one of this country’s greatest industrial leaders. Following the announcement of his retirement from Wood Group, there was a strong desire within the industry to recognise his contribution. Oil and Gas UK is honoured to be able to do this at our awards ceremony on November 8.”
Wood Group said it had completed its acquisition of Mitchell’s Oil Field Services, extending its reach into North America’s shale industry, in a deal worth up to £112.2million.
