Energy sector skills and workforce development body Opito has appointed a new UK standards and approvals director.
Opito said new recruit Graham Gall would lead the development and delivery of safety and competence training standards throughout the industry.
Mr Gall joins the group after a five-year spell as UK managing director for offshore safety and survival training firm Falck Nutec.
Opito managing director Larraine Boorman said: “Graham’s background in the industry and his crucial experience of training, skills, competency development and understanding of safety are key.”
Meanwhile, research carried out by Opito in partnership with the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen has highlighted the importance of common systems, recognised certifications and accreditations in the industry.
Opito said the Managing the Safety Chain survey showed the development of a global assurance programme would significantly improve safety and competency.
