A recently founded north-east oil and gas consultancy said yesterday it had hit the ground running.
Theon opened its doors at Westhill eight months ago and now employs 45 people and is on target for turnover of £3million in its first year.
The firm already has a client list including Amec, BG Group and Taqa.
Ex-Woodhill Frontier directors Steve Rowbottom and Zulfiqar Hussain head up Theon as managing director and business director respectively.
Mr Rowbottom said: “The North Sea energy sector is suffering as a result of a loss of graduates entering the energy sector in the 1990s, resulting in a missing generation of engineers with 10-25 years of experience. This means there is a need for skilled consultants to support engineering teams in all phases of the project lifecycle. At Theon, age is an asset. We have assembled a huge amount of experience covering a wide range of disciplines; more than 200 years among the seven directors alone.”
The company is said to have ambitious growth plans, with space for up to 60 staff at Westhill. It also wants to open a base in London within months.
Mr Rowbottom added: “There is £40billion potential capital expenditure in the North Sea over the next five years and a huge resource challenge in terms of skills.”
