Offshore service company Survival Craft Inspectorate (SCI), announced the appointment of its first chief executive yesterday.
The emergency marine evacuation systems specialist, based at Findon, near Aberdeen, said it had promoted global business-development manager Derek Sinclair to the newly created role.
Mr Sinclair’s appointment comes as SCI gets ready to tackle new business it expects to secure ahead of new maritime safety regulations coming into force in 2014.
Managing director Angus Campbell has overseen the growth of the business from a small workshop in 1991 to a global company employing 150 people in 10 locations.
Annual turnover is expected to rise from £15million to more than £25million over the next year.
Mr Campbell said: “Derek’s appointment to CEO is thoroughly deserved. He will drive our growth plans and implement our support programme for clients to comply with the new legislation for lifeboats and release systems.”
Mr Sinclair joined SCI in June 2009 and was previously MD at survival training firm Falck Nutec UK. He said: “I’m delighted to be appointed CEO of a business that prides itself on doing things right and leading by example.”
