Integrated drilling and environmental service firm TWMA said yesterday it had won a £2million contract from Premier Oil for work in the UK North Sea.
The two-year deal will see TWMA transport drill cuttings and other waste from Awilco Drilling’s WilPhoenix semisubmersible rig, which is currently drilling Premier’s central North Sea Cyclone prospect.
Aberdeen-based TWMA said its work on the WilPhoenix would continue after the rig moves to a prospect west of Shetland.
Premier is developing the Solan project west of Shetland, which is on target to come on stream in 2014.
After removing drill cuttings, TWMA will treat the waste at its thermal processing plant in Peterhead.
The contract, which has two one-year extension options, comes less than a week after TWMA said it was creating more than 100 jobs due to it landing a contract worth up to £12.4million in the Middle East.
TWMA sales director Rob O’Neill said: “Operators are realising the benefits of integrating a full processing package into their drilling campaigns both onshore and offshore.
“The UK continues to be an important region for TWMA and we look forward to working with Premier in what we hope will be the first of many projects.”
TWMA has 350 staff globally, with about 200 of them in the north-east.
