Energy service giant Technip said yesterday it had secured a four-year extension to a contract with BP in the UK North Sea.
A spokesman for BP said later the deal was worth £80million.
The subsea construction, inspection, repair and maintenance frame agreement covers various assets operated by BP until 2017.
Technip said the work would be managed by its UK operating centre in Westhill, near Aberdeen, with around 30 people providing annual support.
Bill Morrice, managing director at Westhill, said: “We are delighted to be awarded this extension.
“This renewed agreement confirms Technip as BP’s contractor of choice until 2017 and could potentially utilise DSVs (diving-support vessels) from Technip’s fleet for up to 80 days per year.”
“This type of contract provides multiple benefits to Technip, including high vessel utilisation, a foundation of work spanning many years and further development opportunities for our subsea engineers.”
BP North Sea regional president Trevor Garlick said: “We are continuing to invest heavily in our core North Sea assets and contractors with a strong presence in the north-east of Scotland are playing a vital role supporting this strategy.”
