Statoil is to install the world’s largest seismic project of its kind with deployment of permanent reservoir monitoring (PRM) on the seafloor around its Norwegian sector Snorre and Grane oilfields.
The company has calculated that this new technology will not only ensure a better understanding of the reservoirs, but is expected to boost recovery from the two fields by some 30million barrels of oil.
Some 700km of seismic cables will be supplied by Geospace, covering an area of approximately 240sq km (190sq km on Snorre and 50sq km on Grane). DeepOcean will install the Snorre grid, while Reef Subsea Norway will equip Grane.
