Senior figures in the North Sea oil and gas industry were divided over the potential impact of an EU withdrawal.
The boss of one engineering firm said Britain had an “important role” to play in the union, but another argued the country did not benefit in any “meaningful way”.
Samir Brikho, chief executive of Amec, which employs about 4,000 people in the North Sea, said: “Uncertainty is not good for business and a swift resolution should be sought.” Jim Milne, chairman of the Balmoral Group offshore engineering firm disagreed, he said: “Balmoral Group exports approximately 90% of its manufactured goods but I don’t see the EU serving UK plc in a meaningful way.”
