Offshore services firm Strategic Corrosion Management has picked up a contract with Maersk Oil worth £250,000.
The deal, an extension of an external corrosion condition survey contract with Maersk as operator of the Danish Underground Consortium (DUC).
The Northumberland-based company, which has a growing base with five staff in Aberdeen, will carry out surveys and data management for three further assets in the Danish sector of the North Sea under the DUC.
SCM picked up the original contract to undertake component and external corrosion condition surveys for the DUC through Maersk Oil in 2006.
This saw the firm carry out surveys and data management on 52 individual platforms and install its Risk, Integrity, and Strategic Corrosion management (RISCm) toolset.
Ian Cordingley, managing director of SCM, said: “We have established an excellent working relationship with Maersk Oil, which has enabled SCM to secure this contract extension based on our previously successful deliveries.
“The increasing demands of corrosion management within the oil and gas sector, particularly as operators manage lifecycle extension of long-established assets, has created new opportunities for our company and enabled us to expand our workforce and enhance the technology-based solutions we offer to industry.”
DUC comprises Shell, Chevron, Maersk Oil and the Danish North Sea Fund.
