Energy giant BP has agreed another multimillion-pound contract for one of its major oil and gas projects west of Shetland as it pushes forward with its plans for the region.
Service group Oceaneering International said yesterday it had signed a £29million deal with the operator to help power some of the subsea infrastructure which will be installed around 80 miles off Shetland. The contract is for more than 11 miles of deepwater umbilicals to be used in BP’s £3billion Quad 204 project, which involves the redevelopment of the Schiehallion and Loyal fields.
They will be installed up to 1,600ft below the surface of the sea to supply electrical and hydraulic power to subsea equipment.
