BW LNG, a unit of Singapore-based shipping company BW Group, has taken delivery of a new LNG carrier, the BW Helios, which will be chartered to BP.
The 174,000 cubic metre LNG carrier, built by South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME), is the second LNG ship to join BW’s fleet this year, after the BW Lesmes was delivered by DSME in March.
BW Helios, named after the sun, features the ME-GI duel-fuel two-stroke engine and full reliquefaction capabilities, BW LNG said in a statement on Linkedin.
BW’s LNG tanker fleet currently includes 23 ships with two more carriers being built and scheduled for delivery next year.
