North-east oilfield equipment provider Downhole Products has moved its Malaysian operation into bigger premises as part of expansion plans.
Portlethen-based Downhole has had an office in Kuala Lumpur for about two years, but said yesterday its 11-strong workforce there was expected to grow in the coming months and needed a larger site. The firm, which employs around 70 people globally, including about 40 in Portlethen, added it planned to open offices in Vietnam and Indonesia this year.
It already has operations in Dubai, Houston, Brunei and Perth, Australia.
Managing director Ian Kirk said the company’s business in Asia had doubled in the past two years, leading to the larger team in Kuala Lumpur.
He said: “Key to achieving growth in the region has been a focus on ensuring we employ experienced people who offer excellent technical expertise and operational support.”
