Energy-service firm Global Energy Group has unveiled multimillion-pound plans to develop Nigg Energy Park.
Aberdeen and Inverness-based Global, which took on the site in 2011 in a deal believed to be worth more than £10million, said yesterday it wanted to reclaim six acres from the Cromarty Firth and build around 3,200 feet of new quayside to provide additional berthing space for vessels.
The company has notified Highland Council that it will submit a planning application for the work, which could be worth up to £37million.
If the planning proposal is successful, Global expects the redevelopment to be completed by summer 2015.
Chairman Roy MacGregor said: “We have already undergone extensive upgrade works on various aspects of the buildings and the infrastructure within the site.
“It has become obvious to us if we are to maximise the opportunities in both oil and gas and the emerging renewables markets we will need more quayside space, and these plans are our first step towards making this happen.”
Public consultations on the plans will be held at Nigg Village Hall on Tuesday, March 12 from 2.30pm and in Victoria Hall, at Cromarty, from 2.30pm the next day.
