According to Decomworld, 813 US Gulf of Mexico platforms out of the present total population of 2,996 such structures in the province fit the criteria of “non-producing idle iron”.
The abandonment and decommissioning specialists said that with such a large number of platforms for decommissioning, it is very important that the industry share best practices approaches, new technology breakthroughs, and project case studies to ensure that all projects are completed on time and on budget.
There are 432 platforms big enough to be considered under the Rigs-to-Reefs Program.
