China Oilfield Services Ltd (COSL) has awarded a contract to the Agility Group for the design of a second semi-submersible drilling rig that will be especially suited for operations in the South China Sea.
The company has stated that the COSL 5000ft semi-submersible is to be based on its A5000 design and will be a new and improved design based on the company’s GG5000 rig that is currently under construction for COSL at the CIMC Raffles yard in China. It is, however, built for work in the North Sea.
