Husky Energy has reported that its exploration well drilled on the Searcher Prospect offshore Newfoundland in the southern Jeanne d’Arc Basin has failed to find significant hydrocarbons and is being plugged and abandoned.
The company said in its latest quarterly statement that the Searcher-1 (C-87) well, spudded on block EL1122 by the semi-submersible drilling rig GSF Grand Banks in August and re-entered at the end of November 2012 after a weather delay, will be “expensed” as a dry hole. Husky is the operator of EL1122 and the Searcher exploration well with 50% interest in partnership with Statoil holding the remaining 50%.
