CGG has started a new highly pre-funded 3D seismic multi-client campaign in the Central North Sea, otherwise known as the Cornerstone program and utilising its BroadSeis technology.
The Quad 30 Phase 7 data-set will cover over 5,500sq km of Quads 29, 30, and 38 mostly on the UK side of the maritime boundary with Norway.
The shoot is being carried out using the CGG Oceanic Phoenix seismic vessel operating with a 10x100x6000m offset streamer array.
A number of major oil companies have pre-committed to the project and a fast-track data delivery will be available from September 2013.
Based on previous surveys in the region, BroadSeis enables imaging of the thinner and more complex reservoirs from the deep Carboniferous-Permian section through the Jurassic and up to the shallower Paleogene targets and is seen as a key solution for unlocking bypassed hydrocarbons in the Southern Central Graben.
