Centrica Energy said yesterday it had started production at a North Sea gas field. The operator said York in the southern North Sea would produce about 120million cubic feet of gas per day at its peak.
Centrica’s regional director for the southern North Sea, Greg McKenna, said the field would produce enough gas to meet the demand of half a million homes, adding: “The platform has been constructed so that it’s able to receive gas from other adjacent fields, so we will continue to explore future opportunities to develop the project further.”
