Oil and gas firms fear the average wage in the sector will increase by 15% this year, a survey from recruitment company Oil and Gas People has revealed.
The research showed 70% of businesses were worried salaries were rising too fast after it emerged the average annual pay will go up to £73,600.
Kevin Forbes, chief executive of Oil and Gas People, said the skill shortage was driving wages up, adding: “Terms and conditions are increasing at the same time as UK oil and gas companies try to compete for a dwindling number of skilled staff.”
