Expro said yesterday it had been awarded a £2.9million, one-year contract for the supply of specialist subsea services to China.
The Aberdeen-based international oilfield service company said the deal with an undisclosed client would allow it to capitalise on an emerging and highly-lucrative deepwater market, which is believed to be poised for major growth over the next five years.
Expro said the work would start this month and was the latest Chinese project involving its direct hydraulic completion technology.
Sales director Graham Cheyne said: “The South China Sea deepwater market is crucial for our growth strategy going forward and the contract win further enhances our presence in China.”
Mr Cheyne added that Expro’s recently-opened base in China’s Shekou industrial zone was key to serving the Chinese market.
He said: “Our investment in technology innovation and infrastructure in China, coupled with the dedication to ongoing training and personal development, means we are well positioned to provide bespoke engineering solutions to our China customer base.”
Expro employs about 4,500 people in 50 countries.
