Oil and gas explorer Cairn Energy said yesterday it was upgrading its reserve estimate for the Norwegian North Sea Skarfjell discovery to a range from 92-282million barrels of oil equivalent.
The revision, which includes both oil and gas, came after operator Wintershall completed appraisal drilling at the site. Cairn chief executive Simon Thomson said: “Skarfjell is one of the largest discoveries in the Norwegian Sector of the North Sea in recent years.”
Cairn has a 20% stake in the field, which was discovered last April.
