Aberdeen-based Harkand said yesterday it was investing more than £19million in expanding its global fleet of remotely operated vehicle (ROV) systems.
This will lead to up to 30 additional offshore positions for ROV technicians; 15 based in the Granite City and the remainder across its Asia-Pacific operations.
Harkand has signed a deal with Forum Subsea Technologies which will see it extend its ROV fleet by 25% to 29 vehicles. Two of the systems will be delivered to Aberdeen.
Group chief executive Nicolas Moute said: “This significant investment reflects our strong commitment to grow as a market-leading IRM (inspection, repair and maintenance) contractor worldwide and ensures we have the necessary people and equipment in place to meet the existing and planned requirements of the company.”
Harkandwas launched in February through the merger of Iremis, Integrated Subsea Services and Andrews Survey after investment by Oaktree Capital Management.
