The Queen’s Award to HRH Geology comes as the firm celebrates the landmark of 100 employees.
Formed in 1989, the business has grown steadily and organically to achieve a current annual turnover of around £9million.
In the past six years, it has been diversifying into new markets in North America, the Middle-east, Africa and south-east Asia.
Overseas sales have risen each year in this period and now account for more than 60% of total sales.
HRH Geology, based at Bridge of Don, exports its proprietary software and geological services to 64 countries. The company has delivered training and services in every continent and placed geologists in most of the oil and gas regions around the world.
Founder and managing director David Harrison said: “It is a real honour to receive a Queen’s Award for our achievement in international trade and a testament to the hard work of our people in developing and implementing our internationalisation strategy.
“Our products and services enable operators to improve the quality of their data in the search for hydrocarbons by ensuring the right decisions, based on accurate geological information, are taken when planning, drilling and completing a well.”
