Business leaders will speak about the importance of perception and reputation at an Oil and Gas UK (OGUK) breakfast briefing on Tuesday.
The event, in the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre, will share insights on improving the public’s awareness and understanding of the oil and gas industry, plus lessons to be learned from other sectors.
Stephen Whitehead, chief executive of the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry, will share his experience of working in highly regulated industries and leading significant change and modernisation programmes.
Paul Baverstock, founder of Fortitude Partners and ex-director of strategic communication for the Conservative Party, will focus on how to overturn negative perceptions, build awareness and develop a deeper understanding of the offshore industry among the wider public.
Felix Lerch, managing director of E.on UK Exploration and Production, will outline the challenges and rewards of its recent efforts to better promote its activities and raise the profile of the wider sector.
OGUK communications director Trisha O’Reilly said: “There is plenty we can learn from other industries about how to manage our reputation and demonstrate the sector’s true worth and relevance.”
