Production from the UK North Sea’s giant Buzzard oil field was shut down after a release of steam triggered an alarm.
Work stopped just after 8pm on Monday and all 371 people on board were mustered.
No one was injured or evacuated during the incident, which is the latest in a string of disruptions to output from the field.
A spokeswoman for Chinese-owned operator Nexen yesterday said: “The cause of the steam release has been identified now and we are working on a solution. We expect to resume production in the next 24 hours. We have not demobilised anyone.”
