Oil service firm Bilfinger Salamis UK (BSUK) said yesterday it had won a multimillion-pound North Sea deal with energy giant Chevron.
The Aberdeen-based contractor said it would support Chevron’s UK operations under the three-year contract, potentially worth up to £50million.
It secures the jobs of 80 BSUK offshore workers on Chevron assets including the Alba North and Erskine platforms, plus the Captain floating production vessel.
The agreement covers services including the supply of deck crews, rigging, coatings and insulation work, plus scaffolding, rope access and specialist cleaning support.
BSUK said the deal extended its relationship with Chevron, with the contractor having worked with the US operator in the North Sea for 12 years.
Doug Sheal, delivery manager at BSUK, said it also gave the industrial service business a chance to invest further in its people and equipment working for Chevron.
He added: “The contract . . . builds on our existing track record, relationships and knowledge of the assets in a seamless manner without disruption to crews’ work plans or safety culture.”
BSUK – part of German group Bilfinger – employs nearly 200 people onshore in the UK, including 150 in Aberdeen, plus 2,000 offshore.
The company reported record turnover of £156million last year.
In March, the company said it was planning to add more than 200 people to its workforce after being appointed by Shell UK to provide services for an upgrade project running until next year.
The Shell work was expected to create 10 onshore positions, with a further 200 jobs offshore.
