Westhill-based oil services firm Proserv has won a multi-million dollar contract for work on BP’s PSVM field project in Angola.
The southern African country was named by BP’s chief executive Bob Dudley earlier this year as one of the company’s four key areas in the world – along with the Gulf of Mexico, the North Sea and Azerbaijan.
Work will include designing and manufacturing a subsea sampling system for the field which, with a water depth of 2,000 metres, will be one of the deepest offshore projects in Africa.
“With an established track record spanning over 35 years in the sampling services sector, we have strengthened our capabilities and expertise through organic growth and strategic acquisitions,” said David Lamont, chief executive at Proserv.
“We fully intend to set the pace as the leading global player in the subsea sampling field.”
The cylinders for the sampling system will be designed at Proserv’s specialist manufacturing centre in Greenbank, Aberdeen, with the whole sampling system to be manufactured and assembled at the company’s Birchmoss facility in Aberdeenshire.
The contract is the second one that Proserv has undertaken for BP Angola on the PSVM development.
